Setting health and fitness goals can sometimes feel overwhelming. Here are some tips to get you started and keep you on track with your health and fitness goals. Whether you’re trying to lose weight, maintain your weight or just become more active these tips will help you achieve your goals. Always check with your doctor if you are just beginning a fitness routine.

  • Set realistic goals. Your goals should be challenging, but attainable. Don’t compare yourself with others, focus on what you can do.
  • Set a main overall goal such as losing 10 pounds or committing to exercise four days per week.
  • Once you have set a main goal set smaller goals to help you achieve your larger goal. If you are not exercising at all don’t set yourself up for failure by setting a goal of working out five times per week. Start with a goal of exercising 20 minutes 3 times per week. Making these small goals with help to keep you motivated along the way.
  • Make a plan. I always stay on track when I have a plan in many areas of my life. Successful health and fitness goals should be backed up with nutrition and exercises plans. There are many tools online or the advice of a personal trainer is a good way to begin.
  • Focus on your small success and celebrate them!
